Ajax's CEO, Van der Sar, handed Puig the 'Best Player' trophy for a tournament which took place in the Dutch capital three years ago

Riqui Puig could join Ajax on loan next season. Catalunya Radio announced the Dutch giants interest in the La Masia star who is desperate for more minutes at senior level after impressing everyone at youth level. However Puig left his market in Amsterdam three years ago when he was named the best player in the ABN Amro Future Cup tournament.

The Juvenil B side was coached by Quique Álvarez back in 2016. They finished third overall. In the group stages, Barça drew 1-1 with Benfica and Anderlecht but beat Olympiacos 2-0. In the semi-final they drew 0-0 with Arsenal but lost on penalties. Barça beat Ajax 2-0 in the Third Place Play Off and Riqui Puig was named the best player in the competition.

It was actually Ajax's current CEO, Edwin Van der Ser, who handed the prize to Puig. That tournament was even more emotional as it coincided with the death of Johan Cruyff.
