He was the leader of the Blaugrana between the years1969 and 1977

One of the main achievements of his reign was bringing Johan Cryuff to the club

Former Barcelona president Agusti Montal Costa feed on Wednesday, March 22 at 82 years of age.

Montal was president of the club between 1969 and 1977 and his son was another ex-president, Augusti Montal Galobart. 

Barcelona published a statement in which they wanted to “send their sincere condolences to the family with whom they are sharing these moments of pain, as well as with the socios, fans of the club and the football world.”

During his reign Barcelona recuperated their original name, FC Barcelona, not CF Barcelona, as well as using Catalan on the socio card, the stadium megaphone and other places, despite the difficulties that existed because of the Franco dictatorship.

He introduced the phrase ‘mes que un club’ and the Barcelona anthem was also brought in during his time. Johan Cruyff was also signed in his reign.
