Ansu Fati's future is likely to be at FC Barcelona. However, for that to happen there must be an agreement between all the involved parties to sign a new contract, something which has not happened yet. And according to El Nacional on Friday, Jorge Mendes, the player's agent, is taking advantage of negotiations to pressure Barça with a possible move to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
Ansu is out of contract next summer and, as with Pedri, Barça's priority is to sign a new deal in the coming weeks. Everyone knows the club's financial problems, which led to them refusing to renew Ilaix Moriba's contract on the terms requested by his camp. Now, the Ansu case doesn't look set to go the same way, but the reality is both sides are playing their hands.
Per the cited media, Mendes hopes to agree a bumper new deal for Ansu at a time when the club are negotiating wage cuts with almost every other player. Barça's new No.10, who's close to returning from a knee injury, is one of the reasons for excitement at the Catalan club in the immediate future and also in the long-term.
Man City are not the only club that have been offered Ansu's services, according to the report, but the player's desire is to stay at the club where he broke through.
