Agent: Barcelona have been watching Alaves' Maripan for a while
The Chile centre-back is having an impressive season in the Basque Country
The agent of Guillermo Maripan, Marcelo Contreras, revealed that Barcelona are interested in the Chilean centre-back, who plays for Alaves.
"We put his name to them a month ago," he said. "They're looking into the possibility, but it would be in the summer."
Maripan, a reference in the Chilean national team, has stood out this season for Abelardo's impressive Alaves side and is now being linked with Barça, although the interest is not new.
"They've been coming to watch him for a while," added agent Contreras.
In addition, the defender would not take up a non-EU spot as he's set to get a Spanish passport in the coming months.
The agents also said it was positive that there are people in the Barça dressing room familiar to Maripan -- such as Arturo Vidal and Munir, although the latter's set to leave in the summer.
