Players will not be able to take part in certain activities outside of football

Barcelona have included 'anti-Pique' clauses in their players' new contracts, according to a report in the Spanish newspaper ABC.

New Barça signings will not be able to mix football with certain other activities away from the game, nor will they be able to go on social media before matches, per the new clauses.

Professional clubs want to avoid their star players getting distracted, as has supposedly been the case with Gerard Pique, who dedicates his life to football and Barça professionally but has other businesses, too, and recently helped organise the revamped Davis Cup in tennis.

NEW CLAUSES

According to ABC, citing sources at the club, Barça have included a series of new clauses in the contracts signed by their players in recent months . to avoid a repeat of situations which have not gone down well with the board, nearly all of them involving Pique.

Meanwhile, Barça will also prohibit the use of social media while the players are together before a match at the hotel.

In addition, there will also be advice about what they can and can't say, both in public appearances and online, with it recommended that they avoid commenting on certain issues. The sharing of images from areas that are not accessible to the public -- such as the dressing room, training, hotel etc -- will also be limited.
