The time and the competition meant not many people turned up

Barcelona beat Leganes 5-0 on Thursday to progress in the Copa del Rey in front of the lowest Camp Nou crowd of the season.

Just 43,216 fans turned up, perhaps for two reasons. The 7pm kickoff midweek made it tough for people to make it from work, while the early rounds of the cup often draw less interest.

Previously, the lowest turnout this season had been for the 5-1 win against Real Valladolid in October, when 59,896 were present at Camp Nou.

The lowest crowd last season was 42,838 for the 3-0 win over Levante, while just 27,099 saw a 5-0 win over Elche in 2014-15.

At the other end of the scale...

The top five attendances at Camp Nou this season:

  1. 93.426 fans: Barça-Real Madrid (Liga)
  2. 90.071 fans: Barça-Dortmund (Champions)
  3. 86.141 fans: Barça-Inter (Champions)
  4. 81.617 fans: Barça-Valencia (Liga)
  5. 81.331 fans: Barça-Sevilla (Liga)
