10 years on from Barcelona's Iniestazo at Stamford Bridge

The goal was key in Barça Champions League and treble success in 2009

There are many ways of preparing for a big game, different ways to motivate a team. With Barcelona playing at Anfield on Tuesday in the second leg of the Champion League semifinal, coach Ernesto Valverde, if he wants, has the video to inspire his players: the Inistazo.

Because exactly 10 years ago to the day, on May 6, 2009, Andres Iniesta appeared as Barça beat Chelsea to reach the Champions League final. Iniesta's scored an unforgettable goal in stoppage time toi earn the Catalans a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. They went on to win the final in Rome and win the treble -- the club's first-ever treble.

Some of the stars from that day are still active. Don Andres in now playing in Japan with Vissel Kobe, Pedro's at Chelsea and Bojan's at Stoke City. Others will be lining up in another Champions League semifinal on Tuesday. Leo Messi, Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets enjoyed that magic night in London and then won another treble under Luis Enrique in 2015.

SAME OBJECTIVE

A lot has happened since then. The bench has changed -- Pep Guardiola is no longer in charge -- and the majority of the team, too. However, the challenge is the same: to achieve what no one else has before. In 2009, the treble was won on route to the six trophy calendar year. Now, Valverde's side's aim is to win a treble of trebles.

On that May 6 into the morning of May 7, Barça celebrated Iniesta's goal like a title. On Tuesday, at Anfield, Barça will have to fumigate the ghosts of Rome to book their place in another Champions League final at the Wanda Metropolitano on June 1. They are in a strong position. They beat Liverpool 3-0 in the first leg.

With La Liga already won and a Copa del Rey final to come on May 25, the Blaugrana are close to their aims.
