Luis Suarez sets off alarm bells at Atletico Madrid after injury in training
The Uruguayan will be suspended this weekend anyway regardless of his fitness
Luis Suarez has set alarm bells ringing at Atletico Madrid.
The Uruguayan forward had to leave training on Wednesday after suffering a muscle problem. The extent of the problem is still not known, but if an injury is confirmed it would add to the Diego Simeone's problems ahead of the run in.
Regardless of what tests reveal, Suarez will miss Sunday's difficult looking trip to Real Betis after picking up his fifth booking of the season in the defeat to Sevilla.
Atletico will also be without another key player at Betis due to suspension, with Marcos Llorente also banned for an accumulation of bookings in the league.
Suarez and Llorente have been two of Atletico's best players this season. Suarez has scored 19 goals since signing from Barcelona last summer to help the Rojiblanco to the top of the league.
However, Atletico's lead has shrunk in recent weeks. At one points they were over 10 points clear with games in hand, but they now hold just a one point advantage over Barcelona.
