Diego Simeone's side didn't really get going at the Wanda but did enough to pick up another three points following their midweek win over Valencia.

An own goal from Joaquin in the second half was the difference between the two teams and leaves Valladolid struggling at the bottom end of the table.

Only Antoine Griezmann impressed for Atletico. He came close to opening the scoring when set up by Alvaro Morata and then drew a fine save from Jordi Masip.

Atletico didn't create too many chances, though, and Valladolid came close through Sergi Guardiola. In the end, though, the Rojiblancos got over the line to keep Barça on their toes for now.
