The Uruguayan forward is prepared to fight for his place at the club

Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez is in the eye of the storm as Barcelona look to revamp their squad following the 8-2 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

He has broken his silence on Saturday to talk about his future at the club amid speculation the Catalan club want him to leave.

"As long as they count on me, I want to keep giving all I can. I have felt the support of the fans since I arrived and that gives me a lot of strength to continue," he told El Pais.

Asked about a bench role, he said: "Obviously I would accept it here as I have always done in my career. Competition for places is always good and if the coach feels I should start from the bench I don't have any problem helping with the role I am given. I think I can still give a lot to this club."

Name on the exit ramp

"There's talk about some names that the president gave, about changes that could happen, but no one has told me they want to get rid of me. If that's what the club wish, it would be nice that whoever's responsible for the decision speaks directly with me," Suarez added.

"I have been at Barça for six years, it's long enough to say what they thing. Better that way than to leak that I am someone they want to leave. Let's see. I also want the best for the club and my idea is to continue, but if the club thinks I'm not essential, I have no problem speaking with the decision-makers."

Suarez believes that "when you lose as we did in Lisbon, we're all responsible. That's clear. It wouldn't be fair to criticise one player or person at the club."
