The Spanish manager has agreed a two-year deal at Mestalla

Valencia have confirmed the appointment of Javi Gracia as the club's new coach following the decision to fire Albert Celades following the team's poor form in the final stretch of La Liga.

"Valencia CF have reached an agreement with Javi Gracia, who has been appointed as first-team coach as of Monday, on a 2-year deal through to June 30th, 2022," the club said in a short statement.

Gracia, who has previously coached Málaga CF, CA Osasuna and UD Almería in Spain, has been out of work since September 2019 when he was sacked by English Premier League side Watford.

He had previously worked at Russia side Rubin Kazan, who he joined after leading Malaga between 2014 and 2016.

"Valencia have always been an ambitious club with brave players that give everything from the first minute to the last, committed to the badge," he said.

"Effort is non-negotiable, that's what has brought us and will bring us our best moments."

He highlighted the importance of the academy and added: "We want you all to be proud of us. We are going to write the first page of our this story together. Let's get started! Amunt Valencia!"
