The Belgian goalkeeper came out in support of De Gea by admitting that everyone makes mistakes

The Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, praised the ability of his fellow shotstopper David Ge Gea after his error against Portugal and said this was only proof that nobody is perfect.

"Everybody makes mistakes, we aren't perfect," declared Courtois during a press conference ahead of Belgium's World Cup debut tomorrow. In the case of goalkeepers, he made the point that one error "could lead to your team conceding a goal".

Courtois will make his debut at the World Cup on Monday 17th June against Panama in Group G. Belgium, managed by Roberto Martinez, are one of the contenders to win the whole tournament. The 'Red Devils' have great players such as Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United), Kevin De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany (Manchester City) and Eden Hazard (Chelsea) in their ranks.

Belgium qualified for this World Cup after topping a group which included Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovia and Cyprus. They've beaten Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Costa Rica and drew with Portugal in preparation for this tournament. In total, across the qualifying campaign, the Belgian side topped the group with 43 goals scored and just 6 conceded.
