The English club have told Bayern Munich that €30m is too much for a player who is out of contract next summer

Although it appears clear Thiago Alcantara will sign for Liverpool this season, the deal continues to be complicated. According to 'Bild', Liverpool are adamant that €30m is far too much for a player they could sign on a pre-contract agreement from January.

Jürgen Klopp is an admirer of the midfielder but the club aren't convinced on the financial side of the deal due to the aforementioned circumstances. Bayern's director of football, Hasan Salihadmizic, won't back down from their original asking price of €30m.

Manchester United have reportedly expressed an interest in Thiago and have spoken with the player's agent but not Bayern yet.

Thiago was linked with a return to the Camp Nou a couple of weeks ago. The 29-year-old left Barça in 2013 and would offer vital experience and quality in midfield.

Despite all the problems over the price, Thiago is still expected to join Liverpool. The player has made it clear he wants a new challenge and the English champions are a good team to start that adventure with. This looks like a deal which could run until the end of the transfer window.
