The image which proves that Messi must do it all for Argentina
The photo went viral on social media following his country's match against Paraguay last night
A photo from the Argentina-Paraguay has gone viral after it showed once again how difficult Lionel Messi has it when representing his country.
It was another disappointing night for Argentina supporters after they could only draw against Paraguay. This leaves Argentina on the brink of elimination ahead of their final group match against Qatar.
Argentina only have one point after two matches in this summer's Copa America. Of course, this has only fueled the fire for those who like to criticise Messi as a result of his country's problems. However it's worth pointing out that the majority understand and sympathise with the Barça captain.
In the photo, Messi can be seen in the centre circle looking to begin a counterattack. This is in the 94th minute and there's a sense of this being a one-man show:
By stark contrast, you can see eight Paraguay players in the image, organised and ready to shut down the attack. Argentina only presents one outlet for Messi, far away on the right wing, despite the playmaker moving in the opposite direction. The only other Argentina player is on the left but he looks seriously tired or unfit, so isn't someone Leo can pass to.
Supporters quickly found other photos which show similar circumstances involving Messi and his national team.
After losing 2-0 to Colombia and trying 1-1 with Paraguay, Argentina need a big victory over Qatar in order to book their place into the next round of the Copa America.
