Rubiales confirmed the date and it could take place in Morocco, Tangier

RFEF chief Luis Rubiales confirmed the Spanish Super Cup between Barcelona and Sevilla will take place on August 12 and will be a one-off match, instead of the two it usually is.

Barcelona are on tour in the USA and Sevilla have Europa League qualifiers.

"This resolution has been adopted, in agreement with the AFE (Spanish Footballers Association) and La Liga, because we must respect the rest periods of the players and not harm the first day of the league season," Rubiales said in a statement.

Sevilla were strongly against that game being played in one-off match but evidently changed their stance.

Tangier in Morocco could be the venue. "The AFE wanted to look for somewhere to play at an hour that won't be a heatwave. We know that after seven or eight the temperature drops, always below 30."

They also said that the economic factor of playing in Tangier would be favourable.
