The lawyer says her client wants prison penalties for Alves, not cash

The lawyer of Dani Alves's alleged rape victim has spoken to UOL about the case.

Ester Garcia Lopez made clear that her client wants the player to be punished, not to earn money from him instead.

"I want prison, not money," the lawyer said her client told her when she started working on the case.

Ester explained "it's a case with more proof than usually and it's not because the accused is a public figure. There are more indications because things were done immediately."

In these type of cases the lawyer said, "there are many times the woman waits a fortnight, a month, two months, to report it. With that, a lot of proof disappears."

The lawyer continued "there are public figures who think they are above good and bad, they think that they would never believe a girl like my client."

In terms of Alves changing his lawyer, she added: "They tell me that he makes many deals, but I will defend the rights of my client. If she doesn't want a deal, there's no deal. My fear is that they will start to pressure her from the media until a moment arrives in which she says I can't take any more."
