Midfielder Sergio Busquets: I could talk about Barca for six hours

The defensive midfielder is not putting an expiry date on his Spain career either, he says

Sergio Busquets, Spain's vice captain, spoke at a news conference on Monday ahead of the clash with Ukraine. The player has 119 games for his country and is not putting a retirement date on his career at the top level.

Retirement from Spain: "I'm going season by season. I'm not 20 years old, I can't look long into the future. I'm content for now, I feel good and with a lot of enthusiasm to continue."

Limit: "It's up to each player, anything is respectable, it's what each one feels - I go season to season. A new one has started, a little strange for the situation we're living through. I'm very happy to be there and I hope that I can last for a long time, but I don't know how long."

Position: "Football has advanced, I'm comfortable in all situations. You have to read the game to find the positions that adapt to your style."

Heavy schedule: "The situation caught us by surprise, I understand that FIFA, UEFA and La Liga cannot change overnight. It's very demanding, with few breaks, it would be good to get to a deal, but it's very hard. There's nothing else to do other than prepare well. It's very hard."

Criticism: “Bascially everyone gets criticised. I'm proud of being seventh in games and my daily work is being valued. Constructive criticism is welcome, the stuff that isn't, is not, but it's part of football. I feel good, I hope I stay that way."

Mikel Merino: "He's a great player, physically strong. He can be a pivote or interior. Rodri is there too, who I love, he's at a great club with a great coach from whom he'll learn a lot."

FC Barcelona: “It's not Barca's best moment, I could talk for five or six hours about it in detail. It was not our best year and that told, individually and as a collective. Football is a team sport. It's over, now we have a new opportunity and the hope that everything will go well."
