The Barca defender will captain Spain against Sweden on Monday

Spain’s captain Sergio Busquets is out with Covid and so it was another skipper, Jordi Alba, who has spoken to the media ahead of the clash with Sweden on Monday.

Alba is one of the few veterans in the squad, with Luis Enrique picking a very young side.

“In the name of the national team, we send our support to Christian Eriksen,” said Alba. “And his family. We send him support and love. I hope we can see him back on the pitch too.”

On Marcos Llorente: “He’s physically strong, he’s had a great season and shown he can play in many positions. He can be a full back, he’s more than capable. When he’s played he’s done very well, he will be an important player for us.”

Captain: “I think we all know the captain is Busquets. We want him back. He’s a visual player for us on the pitch and as a human, Until then I will do what I can to help.”

Aims: “We always have the idea of going far when we start a Euros or a World Cup. Everyone wants to win and it’s not easy but we have a lot of enthusiasm and are very hopeful.”
