The Spanish left back is not being picked by Xavi at Barcelona
Jordi Alba was one of the big protagonists of the Spain national team in the 2-1 defeat by Switzerland at La Romareda. The left back played the full 90 minutes for Luis Enrique, and was grateful to his coach for still counting on him, despite what is happening at Camp Nou. He returned the faith with the equaliser, a rocket into the top corner.
Alba said: “We were sluggish in the first half and they got ahead of us with a clever set piece. We did the hard thing, getting level in the game, but on another set play they got the second goal.
“They are a great team, they defend well, they play out well from the back, it was a difficult game. Now we have to beat Portugal and get to the final four.”
On Luis Enrique, he said: “I’m grateful for his confidence in me, I have to show that on the pitch.”
