Barça and Spain defender Eric Garcia says "criticism does not affect me"
The centre-back has been questioned over the last year but is important for club and country
Eric Garcia appeared at a press conference at Las Rozas ahead of Spain's UEFA Nations League matches against Switzerland and Portugal. The Barcelona player, often questioned, stated that "criticism doesn't affect me, I had to get used to it at first, when it does surprise you a bit, but in the end you understand what this is all about. You have to listen to those who are always with you and listen to the coaches, who are the ones who know the most."
Of another questioned player, Ferran Torres, he pointed out that "it is also a matter of getting used to it. Ferran Torres has proved himself throughout his career. You have to see the teams he has been in, his numbers are spectacular. There is no doubt about him. Both with La Roja and Barça, Eric has a lot of competition, as he admitted: "At Barça, there are five central defenders of a very high level, Kounde from France, Christensen from Denmark, Araujo from Uruguay, Gerard Piqué... no need to even talk about him. It is very important to stay connected to have competition. Everything is an exam. I'm ready if the coach decides I should play”.

On Piqué, he added that "Gerard has been one of the three best centre-backs in history that I have seen, having him as a team-mate is a very good thing, when he has minutes he will show the level he has, he is world class."
Regarding Luis Enrique, he stated that "I am very grateful for the confidence he has had in me from the beginning. On the pitch, he asks me for things similar to Barça, I am very grateful to him and I want to repay that faith on the pitch."
As for rumours, he did not indulge in links between Marco Asensio and Barça. "Marco is a great footballer, he has been showing it for many years. He has a contract with Madrid, so he is playing for another team. I cannot tell you more. It is a pleasure to enjoy him in the national team, but I cannot say more."
