Barca coach Ronald Koeman is maintaining his desire to sign Lyon forward Memphis Depay. After the club failed to bring him in during the summer, they will focus on doing so in the winter market. Depay wants to come and Koeman wants him here.
Koeman spoke to AD and said that "it's certainly possible. I will try, because I want to have him at Barcelona. But I can't know what the club's situation financially will be in January. We will have to wait and see."
On the failed move, he added: "Everything was ready but thanks to La Liga rules we had to sell a player first. In the end, that didn't happen. We wanted Mephis because he's a great player and because he has qualities we lack, including his ability to play high up the pitch in his game."
"The majority of Barca attackers want the ball at their feet. Memphis can do that but you can also send him in behind. He's strong, dynamic and can play as a striker or on the left wing."
