The player's agents deposited 70 million euros with La Liga on Tuesday

Manchester City have paid Rodri's release clause and the midfielder is no longer an Atletico Madrid player. Rodri's agents went to La Liga's headquarters on Wednesday to despot the fee.

City have been chasing the Spain international for months and have managed to beat Bayern Munich to his signing. With Atletico refusing to negotiate -- Diego Simeone tried to convince him to stay -- they have been forced to pay his 70 million euro release clause.

Simeone fought until the end to get Rodri, who only signed from Villarreal last summer, to say, but in the end the player has preferred to start a new adventure in the Premier League, where he will play under Pep Guardiola.

BUSINESS

Atletico have done well on Rodri financially speaking. They only paid 20 million euros 12 months ago when they signed him.

He proved a key player in his one season with the club and was a regular under Simeone. He had a contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2023.
