Robert Fernandez could become Valencia's new sporting director in the coming days, according to El Desmarque, who say he's the favourite to replace Mateu Alemany.
Alemany is currently in talks regarding his departure from the club. The sacking of Marcelino last week by owner Peter Lim has not gone down well with him and he's set to follow the coach out the door.
Former Barcelona sporting director Robert is likely to be his replacement. With Pablo Longoria also set to leave, Valencia are looking for someone who has sufficient experience to control the football side of things.
There are other candidates aside from Robert, who left Barcelona in 2018 following two years in the role at Camp Nou.
