Messi tried to leave last summer before eventually agreeing to stay at Camp Nou

Lionel Messi is back in the English press. Various reports suggest that Manchester City will make a renewed attempt to sign the Barcelona captain in January.

They claim Barça have accepted Messi will leave next summer and Man City could take advantage of that by making a reduced offer this winter.

While the Daily Mirror says it's possible Messi quits Camp Nou next summer when his deal expires, the Daily Star go further by suggesting City will offer 15 million pounds when the transfer window reopens.

The report cites the recent comments made by City's director of financial operations Omar Berrada, who admitted the club would consider moving for Messi if he became available.

Meanwhile, Messi's not spoken about his future since announcing he would stay at the club in the summer. The only time he's spoken was to SPORT, to reiterate his commitment to the club despite his differences with the board of directors and president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
