Zinedine Zidane's future is in the air and still unknown

The Frenchman will stay, per Benzema, and go according to some media sources

Zinedine Zidane’s future is on the line in Madrid. “He will not go, you will see,” said Karim Benzema, in L’Equipe. The forward has a good relationship with the coach. “Until now, Zidane is Madrid’s coach. I don’t see him leaving.”

In Madrid they say if Zidane goes he will have to pay a penalty to Real Madrid (Eduardo Inda on El Chiringuito). The Frenchman has another year on his deal and Florentino Perez is said to have put a clause in his deal to stop him leaving early. That wouldn’t be a problem for Zidane if he signs for another side as they could pay that penalty.

There’s also the chance that Perez would forgive him the penalty in case he wants to hire him a third time as Madrid coach down the line.

Siro Lopez on Cope says that “next week it will be announced that Zidane does not continue”. There are reports that Massimiliano Allegri will step in for him, with Xavi Alonso and Raul as alternatives.

Perez wanted Allegri in 2018 when Zidane left but he was under contract with Juventus.

The only certainty about Zidane’s future is that he will meet with Florentino Perez.
