Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane says the season will not be a disaster if they fail to beat Liverpool in the Champions League final this weekend, saying the only "failure" this year was his side's Copa del Rey Ko against Leganes "after winning away from home."

"There is no failure here," responded Zidane at a media day on Tuesday. "My failure came after losing in the Copa del Rey, because when you win away from home and you're playing the second leg at home you have to go through. It was a tough blow.

"But the failure for me and, I have said this, is when you stay at home away from the trophy. Madrid always want to win everything but you cannot always win everything.

"If you have the dream, there is no failure. If you don't, there is. In life, there are ups and downs and you know that, in life, you have to take blows to improve. But day-to-day, it is worth it."

Zidane also denied the accusation that Liverpool would be more hungry than Madrid in Kiev on Saturday because Los Blancos have won the competition in three of the last four years.

"I can't talk about our opponents," the French coach said. "What I can [say] is that we have and we will always have the same enthusiasm, the same determination, and the same desire. No one can tell us that we are less hungry than anyone else.

"We are Madrid and this club is what we have, we always want more and we will give everything to achieve that in the best way."
