The Real Madrid coach didn't select the Welsh winger in his match day squad for the friendly defeat to Bayern Munich

Real Madrid suffered defeat in their preseason opener against Bayern Munich but all the talk was about Gareth Bale following the contest. Zinedine Zidane has made it clear that he doesn't want the Welsh winger to stick around and doubled down on that in his post-match press conference.

Bale was a surprise absentee from the matchday squad for the friendly. "It isn't anything personal. I don't know whether the situation will change in the next 24 or 48 hours. The club is negotiating with a team he could play for," declared Zidane. "If Bale leaves tomorrow, it'll be best for everyone."

When quizzed as to why he hadn't selected him, even for the bench, Zidane explained: "He wasn't selected because the club is looking to sell him. I hope it's done soon, for his sake too. We are talking with another club where he could play and that's the situation we are in right now."

Bayern beat Madrid 3-1.
