The Madrid side were given a penalty which wasn't and Valencia called it a robbery
We have the first refereeing controversy of the year in La Liga, with Alderete penalised for supposedly fouling Casemiro in the area. Real Madrid were awarded a spot-kick and Karim Benzema converted it.
Valencia kicked off on Twitter. “The robberies in Madrid are becoming a bit repetitive @LaCasaDePapel,” wrote Valencia.
It was a joke about the penalty call, referring to the famous robbery series known as Money Heist in the English speaking world.
Gerard Pique also stuck his oar in, quoting Valencia and saying: “Don’t say it too loudly or they will punish you.”
No lo digáis muy alto que os van a sancionar. 🤫 https://t.co/OrfQ75IUL2— Gerard Piqué (@3gerardpique) 8 de enero de 2022
