Valencia 1-2 Real Madrid: Late Vinicius & Benzema goals steal the show

Madrid came from behind to earn a big three points against Valencia on Sunday

Real Madrid scored twice in the final four minutes to beat Valencia 2-1 and move top of LaLiga on Sunday.

Vinicius Jr. struck in the 86th minute and then turned creator two minutes later as Karim Benzema sealed the three points.

Former Madrid striker Hugo Duro had earlier given Valencia the lead in the 66th minute, but the home side could not hold on at Mestalla.

Madrid remain unbeaten and have 13 points from five games in the league, while Valencia, who tasted defeat for the first time this season, sit third with 10 points.

The first half was dominated by injuries, with Valencia losing Carlos Soler and Thierry Correia, while Madrid had to take off Dani Carvajal.

Valencia perhaps shaded the first 45 minutes but Thibaut Courtois was in fine form once again.

Jose Bordalas' side eventually found the breakthrough in the 66th minute when Duro found the net against his former side.

Rather than build on their lead, Valencia got deeper and deeper and eventually paid the price for sitting back.

Vinicius struck the equaliser, with his deflected effort catching out young goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Benzema then completed the turnaround, with his shoulder connecting with Vinicius' cross to earn Madrid another three points.
