Unopposed Florentino Perez is re-elected as Real Madrid president

Perez will remain in the role until at least 2025 after no one stood against him

Florentino Perez has been re-elected as Real Madrid president until 2025 following a board meeting late on Monday night, the club have confirmed.

With no one standing against Perez, the board of directors convened at 00.01 on April 13 to confirm he will now starts his sixth mandate in charge of the club.

In his second spell as president, which started in 2009, no one has ran against him. To be an official candidate, you need to have been a socio for 20 years and provide a guarantee for 15 percent of the club's budget.

Perez's first spell in charge ran from 2000-2006 and he returned in 2009. As president, he has won 26 trophies: five leagues, five Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups, five Spanish Supercups, four European Supercups and two Copas del Rey.

A Madrid statement read:

"The ceremony to declare Florentino Pérez as president of Real Madrid C. F. and its Board of Directors took place this morning at Real Madrid City.

"Since July 2000, under the presidency of Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid have won 47 titles across both areas. 26 in football: 5 European Cups, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 5 LaLigas, 2 Copa del Rey and 5 Spanish Super Cups. And 21 in basketball: 2 European Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 6 Leagues, 6 Copa del Rey and 6 Spanish Super Cups.

"Florentino Pérez is now facing his sixth term as president of Real Madrid, until 2025."
