The defender admitted he picked up a yellow card on purpose, something which is against the rules, and UEFA have history of extending the suspensions of players guilty of this

Sergio Ramos is going to face further punishment by UEFA. The Real Madrid defender admitted to picking up a yellow card on purpose in the match against Ajax. However UEFA are clamping down on player's tactically picking up bookings and now Ramos is facing an extra one-match ban.

Ramos desperately tried to change his story but the damage was already done. It isn't the first time this has happened with Madrid in the Champions League either. Mourinho told both Ramos and Xabi Alonso to get sent off against Ajax so they would have a clean slate for the Last 16 matches. Ramos avoided an additional ban that day but was fined for his actions.
