Zinedine Zidane’s relationship with the dressing room at Real Madrid is broken. That is evident on the pitch and in the club’s bad results. We can say there is a total rupture. SPORT have learned the coach has lost confidence in players like Eden Hazard and Martin Odegaard. Neither of the Brazilian forwards, Vinicius and Rodrygo have inspired confidence in Zidane. That is reflected by their rare starts. And Marco Asensio is far from the level expected of him now he’s fully back from injury.
Zidane is also growing tired of the attitude of various players, including Marcelo and Toni Kroos, the latter surprising.
And then there are other problematic situations like that of Isco, where the fracture between player and coach is total. Zidane would be happy to shed 70% of his squad.
Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Karim Benzema, Casemiro, Mendy and Valverde are virtually the only players he really counts on.
Zidane is calm though. Because he told president Florentino Perez in the summer that a renovation was necessary. But because of Covid-19 and the stadium being renovated, no money was spent. That’s why Sergio Reguilon and Achraf Hakimi were let go too. They wanted to gather money. So, whatever happens, Zidane has his conscience at ease.
