The Belgian goalkeeper said something that his former team Atletico will not like
Thibaut Courtois knows what playing a Champions League final is, but he has never won one. In 2014 he lost with Atletico Madrid against Real Madrid in Lisbon. The disappointment was enormous but now he wants to make history with Real Madrid. “I am on the good side of history now,” he said, a comment his old fans will not like,
“To win it tomorrow, although for some it will be their first and others their fifth, I think for all the team there exists the same hope of winning and growing Real Madrid’s history.
“Liverpool already played against Real Madrid in 2018 and if you face Real Madrid, you know they win finals. Now I’m on the good side of history.”
He also spoke about Karim Benzema, the team’s top scorer.
“Benzema has improved even more, he keeps improving, he keeps scoring goals, it’s something that pushes the team on towards victory. He presses a lot and does not stop running even though we go through difficult moments. He always shows his quality.”
