The RFEF close part of Valencia's stadium and revoke Vinicius' red card

The decision was made official on Tuesday and Vini could feature vs. Rayo on Wednesday

The RFEF's Competition Committee has confirmed that it will close the Mario Kempes South Stand at Mestalla for the racist insults aimed at Vinicius during Valencia's 1-0 win over Real Madrid on Sunday. This sanction will be extended for the next five matches that Los Che play at their home stadium.

Who will not be sanctioned in the end is the Brazilian player himself, as the red card he received in added time will be revoked.

As explained in the resolution of the Committee, the VAR referee did not show all the correct images leading up to Vinicius dismissal and that, if he had, another decision may have been reached.

Vinicius was sent off for hitting out at Hugo Duro following a clash in which the Valencia man had first grabbed him, with goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili also embroiled.

Vinicius could not play in Madrid's next match at home to Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.

Así han comunicado el cierre de la Grada sur Mario Kempes

"The Competition Committee has sanctioned Valencia CF with the partial closure of the Mestalla stadium for five matches, more specifically of the south stand Mario Kempes, following the events that took place during the Primera Division National League Championship match between the home team and Real Madrid CF," the RFEF statement said.
