Real Madrid's captain whacked Havel in the face and caused his nose to blood. Without VAR in the Champions League, he escaped punishment

Real Madrid's captain Sergio Ramos has done it again. He whacked Milan Havel square in the nose with his elbow just 14 minutes into the Champions League contest against Viktoria Plzen. However due to both the referee and his assistants missing the clear act of aggression - and VAR not being used in this season's competition - the defender escaped what would've been a clear red card.

The incident happened when Milan Haval was looking to get past Ramos and be through one-on-one with Courtois. Instead the defender threw out his elbow and smacked poor Milan in the face. The Plzen man crashed to the floor and was left a bloody mess.

Ramos, as expected, pleaded his innocence but the elbow was clear. It's another reminder that Europe's premier club competition decided not to use VAR this season and as such, Ramos escaped getting sent off.
