Someone already at the club could be handed a big chance if Pogba doesn't sign

The chances of Paul Pogba signing for Real Madrid have become seriously complicated. What's more, things are frozen right now due to Manchester United's financial demands. Despite the fact Zinedine Zidane wants the France midfielder, Madrid are not ready to go near the 200 million euros the Premier League side are demanding.

They feel Pogba is a great player but not at that price. And while things don't change, they're not going to ask about the French international again. Working against Madrid is the fact that the transfer window closes in England on August 8. In Madrid's favour is the fact it remains to be seen how United will handle a player who's unhappy. Although it's true he has not publicly voiced his discontent yet.

Given the context, Madrid are working on a 'homemade solution' in Federico Valverde. The young Uruguayan impressed Zidane at the end of last season and did well at the recent Copa America. He would be the ideal complement in midfield alongside Casemiro. The only negative is his youth. Later this month he turns 21. But the club feel this could be his breakout season.

Therefore, Madrid will work with what they have if there's no change in the Pogba situation. What's certain is that Tottenham's Christian Eriksen will not come if Pogba doesn't. And not because Los Blancos don't like the Dane. They like him a lot, but Zidane is not convinced by the Tottenham man.
