The Japanese international will play for the Yellow Submarines next season; there's no option to buy included in the deal

Real Madrid and Villarreal are finalising the last details on a deal which will see Takefusa Kubo join the Yellow Submarines on a season-long loan deal. This is according to information from the newspaper 'AS'.

The agreement is for just one season and no option to buy will be included. Real Madrid believe Kubo has a bright future at the club once he's gained sufficient experience in LaLiga.

Zinedine Zidane would have included Kubo in his preseason plans if Madrid had a non-EU spot available. The current plan is for Vinicius to apply for a Spanish passport to free up a slot for the Japanese international.

Kubo had offers from LaLiga and abroad but the deal to join Villarreal was the one both Madrid and the player himself felt was the best for his development. He'll have the chance to gain experience in the Europa League next season too.

Unai Emery personally asked for Kubo to join his new-look Villarreal side. He played 36 matches for Mallorca last season but was unable to stop them from being relegated.

Real Madrid want between €2m-3m for the loan and Villarreal to cover Kubo's €2m per season wages. Unsurprisingly, Villarreal hope to negotiate those figures down before the move is made official.
