The club have told Real Sociedad they are cutting short his two-year loan to bring him back to the Bernabeu next season

Martin Odegaard won't complete his second season on loan at Real Sociedad. According to 'AS', Real Madrid have already decided to cut short the midfielder's stay in San Sebastian and he will work under Zinedine Zidane next season. This decision was made in the last few hours as Odegaard was expected to join up Sociedad on the 14th of August to begin preseason.

The key reason behind this change is down to Zidane. The coach spoke with Odegaard to assure him of his role at Madrid and then told Florentino Perez to cancel his loan move.

It appears Odegaard will be tasked with replacing Luka Modric in the starting XI at the Santiago Bernabeu. The young Norwegian would have preferred to stay with Real Sociedad, where he's guaranteed to play every week.

It's come as a major shock for La Real as they will now need to move quickly to replace Odegaard, who became a key figure in their side last season.
