Los Blancos will buy CD Tacón's place in the top flight

Real Madrid will have a women's team next season. Finally. They've arrived very late. They aren't just the last big European team to launch a women's side, they're also the last in La Liga.

After public opinion and a number of Madrid supporters called for a female team, Florentino Perez has finally responded. Spanish football congratulates them because any investment helps the game grow and improve in this country and especially so if it's coming from a club with so much history and with so much financial and media power.

They will have a team from next season. It's almost been rushed through, taking advantage of the structure, academy and promotion to La Liga Iberdrola of CD Tacon, a team from Hortaleza created a few years ago under the hand of businesswoman Ana Rosell and with the involvement of Rene Ramos, the brother of Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

The team was born with the objective of becoming Madrid once they reached the top level and Perez and his board have made everything official this week.

As we wait to find out more details of the deal, Madrid's intention is to buy Tacon's licence for a few of between 400,000 and 500,000 euros to take their place in the Liga Iberdrola immediately, although the final decision could see the absorption of Tacon by Madrid.

In any case, the new team, who will train and play at Valdebebas, will become part of Madrid in every sense -- from the first team down to the academy, which will still be ran in an indirect way for the first year.
