The playmaker has signed a long contract to move from Manchester City

Real Madrid have signed Brahim Diaz from Manchester City for 17 million euros. They announced it after their 2-0 defeat at home by Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Madrid pay City 17m plus 15 per cent of a future transfer fee if Madrid sell him for a figure over 17m euros.

Diaz signs a six-and-a-half year deal, until 2025.

The Spaniard did not want to renew his deal with Manchester City and was out of contract in the summer, but Madrid wanted him now. Florentino Perez announced the deal tonight as a smoke screen after the latest bad result.

"After completing his medical, which will take place tomorrow, Monday 7 January, the player will be unveiled at 1:30pm CET in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu," said Madrid in a statement.

"Brahim will then set foot on the Santiago Bernabéu pitch for the first time in a Real Madrid C. F. shirt, before addressing the press in the media room."
