Real Madrid 5-1 Legia Warsaw: Walk for Los Blancos but Cristiano fails to fire

Real Madrid romped to victory as the Polish side failed to show up, edging close to the next round of the Champions League

It was all too easy for Real Madrid against Legia Warsaw, but Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score.

Gareth Bale opened the scoring for Madrid when he cut inside and found the far corner nicely, before a deflected Marcelo strike made it two.

Warsaw had started well, hitting the post, but Madrid knew their goals were coming, even though defensively this was not a good performance.

Danilo conceded a penalty when he brought down Miroslav Radovic, who dusted himself down and scored the spot kick.

Cristiano Ronaldo was getting frustrated at not finding the net himself, but set up Marco Asensio for his fourth of the season from the edge of the area.

Lucas Vazquez smashed in the fourth after Alvaro Morata’s cross, and the Spain striker hit No 5 after a Cristiano set-up. Victory in Poland against the same opponents would seal Madrid’s progress.
