Madrid put one foot in the Champions League semi-finals with this win

Vinicius Junior put Liverpool to the sword with just his 14th and 15th Real Madrid goals on Tuesday night.

Los Blancos have hit form and with the Clasico up next, it promises to be a brilliant battle with Barcelona on Saturday night.

Madrid put a foot in the Champions League semi-finals with this impressive victory against a Liverpool side which didn’t turn up in the first half.

Vinicius broke the deadlock with a fine finish after Toni Kroos’s sublime pass. And after Kabak could have given away a penalty for a foul on Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio made it two.

The Spanish forward bagged his fourth goal in four games, chipping Alisson and finishing it off on the other side.

Mo Salah hit back for the Reds early in the second half as Lucas Vazquez played him on, but Vinicius was at it again soon enough to restore Madrid’s lead.

This time it was Luka Modric with the assist, playing in the Brazilian, who finished first time past compatriot Alisson.

"It was a good game for us, especially the first half,” said Madrid stopper Thibaut Courtois.

“We controlled them well, scored two goals. The second half they started with higher intensity and got the goal, it was a bit unlucky for me, but we tried to remain calm and we got the third goal. It's a good position for us now but we know Anfield is always a hard place to go."
