Incidencias

Partido de vuelta de las semifinales de la Champions, disputado en el Santiago Bernabéu ante 77. 459 espectadores.

Karim Benzema scored twice but goals from Joshua Kimmich and James Rodriguez, on loan from Real Madrid, meant the game went to the wire and the Santiago Bernabeu was reduced to a nervous wreck.

However Keylor Navas made amends for his first leg mistake by making some wonderful saves, including a reflex stop from David Alaba's deflected effort, and it was enough for Madrid to progress.

Of course there was controversy too, with luck on their side again, as Marcelo handled in the area and Sergio Ramos fouled Robert Lewandowski but neither penalty was given.

Kimmich had sent Bayern ahead after just three minutes, reacting to blast home when Ramos cleared Corentin Tolisso's cross, but Benzema netted his first goal from open play since February when he headed home Marcelo's ball in from the left in the 11th minute.

Navas denied Lewandowski as Bayern dominated, but Benzema found the net again thanks to an horrific error by goalkeeper Sven Ulrich, who could not react to a Tolisso pass-back and fell over, leaving the Frenchman a clear path to tap the ball home.

That goal sent Madrid through, with James Rodriguez equalising from close range on the night against his parent club, but he and Bayern could not find a winner.
