Real Madrid 2-0 Granada: Too easy for Zizou and his patched-up men

Madrid were depleted but still strolled to victory against a lame Getafe outfit

Real Madrid steadied the ship with a solid 2-0 win against Getafe, as Zinedine Zidane made some changes to his team’s structure.

After a fortuitous win over Huesca at the weekend, Zizou chopped things up and operated a five at the back system, using Ferland Mendy as a left centre-back.

It worked as they limited Getafe to just one shot on goal, and Mendy was on the scoresheet with Madrid’s second, after Karim Benzema scored the opener.

The first half was tonight but Madrid were on top, and the goals after the break cut Atletico Madrid’s lead at the top of the table to five points, albeit having played two more games than Diego Simeone’s side.

“We played a really bad game, we can’t go on like this,” admitted Nemanja Maksimovic after the game.

It’s true, it was far too easy for Madrid. Benzema headed in Vinicius Junior’s cross on the hour mark and then Mendy slid in from Marcelo’s ball for the second. An easy night’s work for Los Blancos.
