Partido de vuelta de los cuartos de final de la Copa del Rey disputado en el Santiago Bernabéu. Amonestó a Tito (27').

Madrid went into the second leg game with a 1-0 lead from the first leg but Javier Eraso levelled the tie in the 32nd minute.

Karim Benzema edged Madrid back in front after the break but Gabriel’s goal just before the hour gave Leganes the advantage and ultimately proved the winner.

Zinedine Zidane’s side pushed for what would have been a winning goal but with no Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale in the squad they could not find a breakthrough.

Not only are they out of the Copa del Rey, but they are also trailing Barcelona by 19 points in La Liga.

It leaves them with all their eggs in the Champions League basket. They meet Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16.

There will be serious questions asked about Zidane now, despite all the success he has had so far.

Madrid have won just one of their last five games at the Bernabeu, beating Deportivo La Coruna 7-1 at the weekend.

Since losing to Barcelona in December, they have drawn with second-tier Numancia and lost to Villarreal (league) and now Leganes (cup).

Leganes, the team with the smallest budget in Spain’s top flight, deserve credit, too.

They progress to the last four with Sevilla and Valencia. Barcelona or Espanyol will complete the semifinal lineup on Thursday.
