Incidencias

Partido disputado en el estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

Casemiro sent Real Madrid in a dour first half, heading home from Toni Kroos’s cross.

But Sergio Ramos conceded a penalty after the break, which Cristhian Stuani converted - good job Barca didn’t buy him in January, eh?

The visitors had all the momentum and Portu, who was getting the better of Marcelo completely in the second half, hit the post.

Then Thibaut Courtois parried Anthony Lozano’s shot and Portu rifled in the rebound to send Girona ahead.

Courtois actually came the closest to equalising for Madrid, heading a corner off-target in the final stages of stoppage time.

By that point they were down to 10 men with Ramos sent off for a second yellow card.

He misses the clash with Levante but is back for the Clasico. which now will feel less pressured given there is a nine point gap between leaders Barca and Madrid, third.

"I don't know what happened, I think in the first half we played well," said Courtois after the game.

"We lost three golden points. I don’t know if the league is lost, we’re back to where we were a month ago. The season is long and we have to keep winning games."
