Real Madrid 1-2 Athletic Bilbao: No Clasico Super Cup final

Lucas Vazquez made sure of that with a terrible display as Marcelino enjoyed a win

Former Atletico Madrid striker Raul Garcia got one over his old rivals Real Madrid as he netted twice to send Athletic Bilbao into the Spanish Super Cup final.

The forward finished well early on and netted a penalty after a silly Lucas Vazquez foul to send the Basques in two to the good at La Rosaleda.

Madrid tried to fight back in the second half and nearly managed it, with Karim Benzema pulling one back.

VAR overruled an offside on the goal and it gave Madrid a chance of a comeback. Marco Asensio hit the woodwork thrice.

Benzema netted again but this time it was offside, with Courtois denying Villalibre at the other end.

Ramos headed wide at the end and Marcelino’s side earned a clash with Barcelona on Sunday in Seville.

So, no Clasico, but it won’t be easy for the Catalans, who beat Bilbao 3-2 in the coach’s first game in charge a couple of weeks ago.

That performance was inspired by Lionel Messi and he is a doubt for the final at La Cartuja.
