James Rodriguez started for the first time in two years, Gareth Bale played too, as Madrid picked a line-up which could have been one from 2016, were it not for the presence of Courtois.
Waldo Rubio nearly grabbed a late winner but Courtois denied him to make sure Madrid left with a point.
