The French midfielder is asking for a pay rise which is designed to unsettle his current club into accepting an offer from Madrid

Paul Pogba is becoming a big problem for Manchester United. The midfielder has asked for a pay rise, according to The Times, and the objective is to unsettle United and force them into negotiating with Real Madrid over a transfer.

After being eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Barça, United's sole objective for this season is to finish in the top four of the Premier League. They are currently in sixth place and are facing the real prospect of being involved in the Europa League next season.

They are two points behind Arsenal (4th), three behind Tottenham (3rd) and well behind Liverpool and Manchester City who are fighting for the league title.

Pogba has asked for a pay rise after a clause in his contract reduced his wage by 25%. If United aren't in the Champions League, his wage automatically drops by 25%, however he has since asked for that to be ignored. His club believes this has been done purely to unsettle the situation and force them to consider selling the midfielder to Real Madrid.

The player's agent, Mino Raiola, has already agreed terms with Real Madrid according to sources in England. They believe this entire scenario has been designed for Pogba to clash with United and ultimately push through a move to Madrid.
