Official: Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane leaves the club
The Frenchman walked away after a season where Madrid did not lift a trophy
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has left the club for a second time. The Frenchman decided to walk away after not winning anything this season.
"Zidane is one of Real Madrid's great icons and his legacy extends beyond what he has achieved as a coach and player at our club," said Madrid in a statement.
"He is aware that he has a place in the hearts of the Real Madrid fans and that he will always have a home at Real Madrid."
Zidane initially left in May 2018 but came back near the end of the following season after Lopetegui and Solari had been sacked.
This season Madrid took La Liga down to the final day but Atletico Madrid won it by two points.
Zidane has been hinting he would leave the club for quite some time but now it’s finally official.
